Ultimate Breakfast Burger

I came across this recipe on BuzzFeedFood and am highly impressed.  


Ultimate Breakfast Burger

  • Tater tots
  • Eggs
  • Bacon
  • Ground turkey (or meat substitute)
  • Pepper Jack Cheese
  • Bourbon Syrup


  1. In a small (or medium bowl) mix the turkey (or meat substitute) with your favorite spices.  *We used smokehouse maple rub.*
  2. Preheat George Foreman grill and spray with E.V.O.O.  If you do not have a grill you can cook the burgers in an oven or skillet.  Be sure to drain any excess fat.
  3. Place burgers on grill cook them.
  4. While waiting on the burgers to cook, preheat a griddle or skillet.  Spray with coconut oil.
  5. Crack open eggs and cook hard. Once eggs are finished remove and place on side.
  6. Remove burgers from grill place on the side.
  7. Cook bacon until desired crisp in a skillet.  Be sure to pat dry to remove any excess greasiness. Place on side
  8. Now the fun part!  Preheat waffle iron.  Spray with coconut oil.  Place the tater tots on the waffle machine until the entire iron is covered.  Close iron.
  9. Cook until they are one big crispy waffle.  This will be your "bread".
  10. In order place bottom "bun" of tater tots, then add burger (melt pepper jack cheese on top), next will be the bacon pieces, let's not forget those yummy hard fried eggs...but before adding the top "bun" of tater tots we shall make a yummy bourbon syrup.  It is optional.

Bourbon Syrup

  1. 1 tbs. of butter (or non-dairy)
  2. Steen Syrup (or maple)
  3. Bourbon of choice (we used Jim Beam)

Cook until it becomes thick.

11.  Pour the Bourbon Syrup on top of the bacon layer and lastly add the top "bun" of tater tots.

VOILA!! Enjoy.

***Some adjustments were made to the recipe to fit my dietary needs.  You can make this with ground beef, mushroom, black bean patty, vegetable patty, or any other meat substitute.***
