Discussion: Protective Styles
Hello ladies!!! As promised in my last post, I am here to talk about moisturizing my hair and my mini twist hairstyle. If you remember, I said that my hair was a little dry after letting my hair fully air dry from the natural texturizer. The reason was because I only had applied ApHogee ProVitamin Leave-In Conditioner on my wet hair. I did not fully moisturize my hair till the next morning.
To moisturize my hair, I did the LOCS method. LOCS stands for liquid, oil, cream and sealant. I put my hair into ten big twist. I spritz each twist with water and conditioner mix. My hair was damp, not soaking wet. After, I applied my oil mixture; avocado oil, grapeseed oil, soybean oil, olive oil and vitamin E oil. I followed that with As I Am Moisture Milk. My hair was delivert!!! LOL.
Now for the sealant part of the LOCS method, I used my homemade whipped shea butter. The Shea butter was the product I used to do the mini twist with. I know some people use gel or bee wax when they do mini twists but I decided to only use gel on the ends of my hair. It took my 7 1/2 hours to do my whole head O_O. That's with taking a lot of break in between and babysitting. My hair was soft, shiny and moisturize. I loved the results but hated how long it took to do it.
Why did I do mini twists? Well ladies, I am doing a hair challenge. I am going to try to do a protective styling challenge for a year. This will be my first time doing a hair challenge, so I am excited to see how things will go. I got the idea from Black Hair Information.
Step two of the challenge, I may do later on so I can see how my hair grow naturally while being in a different protective styles. I am thinking about waiting three months or so before I get my growth aid and keep track of the progress. Also step three, depending on the hairstyle, I may keep the style in longer than 3 weeks. I will try to do a post for each hairstyle. In those posts I will talk about how long I kept them in, maintaining, products, growth, etc.
I hope you ladies enjoy this blog. Until next time have a bless day!
